Intercultural Diversity

Introduction: I was t entreated with this assignment early in the semester, and with the cooperate of my lecturer, I got to meet 2 very friendly German girls. The first was named Kathrin and the second, Nataile. Both of these girls were students of our lecturer for a nonher subject, but were even so very willing to participate. Overall we met five times, this included group meeting for coffee, a trip to the cinema which was followed with pizza to allow for conversation, a few drinks in a pub and also a Trip to the beach. One of the first things to do here would be to outline a defintion of culture: According to Geert Hofstede Culture is a system of shared meanings it is where people share the same values, traditions and precepts as one another. Learning Goals: While set out to start this project, I sat d give birth and theme about what I wanted to learn from it and also what questions to ask the girls. Some of the topics I wanted to cover included, what college is interchangeable in Germany?, what the social life is like at college there?, do most young people in Germany go to college? and so forth I also wanted to discuss other topics such as food, the language and dialects/accents even phrases, clothing, the German concept of beauty, family life, TV, and others.

I also wanted to learn more about my own culture, as it is too difficult to recgonise my own culture/ heathen differences when I am risey submerged in it. I beleive the analogy we used in class to describe this would hunt well here to explain culture: Culture is like a fish in Water that is, you do not take any notice to what cultural norms are vent on around you everyday, it is only when these cultural norms (the water) is removed that you date what you take for granted everyday. When I was creating the questions before hand, I looked at the powerpoints on Moodle to help me structure the adgenda for the meetings.
