Lab Report

Title: Behavior of Gases: Molar Mass of a Vapor

Materials/ implement:
In this lab, the following we used the following materials: gas-law demonstration apparatus, balance, 125-mL Erlenmeyer flask, 250-mL graduated cylinder, safety band, wine gauze, boiling chips, barometer, Bunsen burner and hose, 600-mL beaker, 2-inches square of atomic number 13 foil pins, ring stand and iron ring, utility clamp, thermometer, and a volatile vague liquid.

Pertinent Safety Information:
in advance performing this experiment, it is important to dress appropriately for the lab. No sandals or contact lenses should be worn in the lab. Also, long breeches are preferable everyplace lights or short skirts. You should tie long hair back, and wear safety gawp during the entire experiment. When handling the chemicals, one should never put the unknown chemical directly under the nose as if to intuitive feeling it. You should never attempt to eat or drink in the laboratory, especially the chemical(s).

Procedure:
The purpose of this lab is to observe how changes in temperature and pressure affect the volume of a fixed come in of a gas; to determine to molar mass of a gas from the knowledge of its mass, temperature, pressure, and volume.
Record the number of the unknown liquid.

conduct a small square of aluminum foil over the mouth of a clean, dry 125-mL Erlenmeyer flask.
Fold the foil in general around the neck and secure with a rubber band.
keep a very small hole in the rivet of the foil with a pin. Weigh the flask, foil cap, and rubber band.
send out closely 350mL of pissing and some boiling chips in a 600-mL beaker and begin heating it to bring the water to a boil.
while the water is heating, remove the foil from the Erlenmeyer flask and place about 2mL of the unknown liquid in the flask.
Then, replace the foil and rubber band.
Clamp the flask at the top of the neck.
After the water has been brought to a boil, record its temperature and barometric pressure.
